smallsite Pointing Your Customers in the Right Direction

These are the terms and conditions that you will be subject to as a smallsite owner.

Definitions

"I" or "me"
Andy Leppard, the web designer behind the smallsite product.
"You", "the client", "the customer" or "your business"
That's obvious isn't it? These terms refer to the person or company that is buying a smallsite.

Included in Your £150 smallsite

  1. A UK Domain name of your choice (.co.uk, .org.uk or .me.uk)
    I will register your choice of UK domain name so long as the name you want is currently unregistered. I will need the details outlined in the Your Responsibilites section. I will offer alternative domain names for your perusal if the one you specified is not available.
  2. 12 months of web site hosting for your smallsite
    Your hosting is limited to 5mb (very ample for smallsite) and will be wholly managed by me . If you require more space, your package can be upgraded. After the first 12 months you will be invoiced £50 on each aniversary of your smallsite launch for the following 12 month period.
  3. A home page with your choice of content:
    As detailled in the Your Responsibilities section, you will be required to supply all textual content for your smallsite before production begins. I will be able to advise you on how suitable your copy is for search engine visibility. Any or all of the following suggestions could be included:
    • Products and services
    • Current special offers
    • Satisfied customers
  4. A contact page including:
    1. Your telephone number (optional)
    2. An online enquiry form (optional)
      Your online enquiry form will contain the following fields as a minimum:
      1. Name (of enquirer)
      2. Email Address(of enquirer)
      3. Email Me Option
      4. Telephone Me Option
      5. Message (from enquirer)
      Online forms can contain many custom features and I will endeavor to accommodate any special requirements you may have at no extra cost. I reserve the right to charge for custom form features that will cause me further costs. I will advise clients of expected costs before I undertake any custom form development.
    3. The address of your offices/premises (optional)
    4. A Google map of your location (optional)
      Only Google maps are offered. There are many different display options including the ability to include custom content in a popup label from the marker on the map. Google currently offer access to their map service free of charge and I cannot guarantee that this free access will continue. I will advise all customers in the event of any changes imposed by Google.
  5. Web design that is fully compliant with Web Standards and validated by the World Wide Web Consortium
    Your smallsite will be constructed using either HTML 4.01(Strict) or HTML 4.01(Transitional) depending on specific content requirements. Styles will be implemented using CSS 2.1. These specifications are W3C recommendations and will ensure that your site displays in a simlar manner in all major modern browsers for the forseeable future.

Your Responsibilities

Please note that any information to be used during the registration of your domain name is marked with ‡ and will be publicly accessible through the whois register.

  1. Company information for administrative purposes
    1. Registered company name
    2. Company registration number (If applicable)
    3. VAT registration number (If applicable)
    4. Contact details, including:
      1. Name of owner/directors
      2. Address of registered offices
      3. Name of administrtive contact
      4. Administrative email address (Will be publically available)
  2. Textual Content, ie:
    1. All text that will appear on the home page
    2. Required contact details
    3. Wording for email responses
    All text must be supplied digitally and in a selectable format ie. .txt or .doc files. If text is supplied in a non-digital format (ie. a scanned image, printed or handwritten document) a small charge may be applied for conversion to digital format.
  3. Pictorial Content, ie:
    1. All photographs that will appear on the site
      Photographs must be supplied in a digital format ie. as digital photo files (usually JPEG format) or as scanned images (TIFF, PDF or JPEG are common formats)
    2. Any company identity (Corporate ID) graphics ie. logo, brands, logotypes etc.
      Again, all images must be supplied in a digital format ie. as scanned images (TIFF, PDF or JPEG are common formats) or in original source files (common formats for logos are EPS, TIFF, AI or CDR). Please note that quality issues in output file formats are directly related to the quality and/or resolution of input file formats.
  4. Payment
    1. smallsite production will be invoiced pro forma
      As this will be relatively fast turnaround, I have to take payment in full before I will undertake any production or registration processes.
    2. Recursive hosting payments
      You will be invoiced on the anniversary of your initial order for your continuing hosting on a once yearly repeating schedule.

My Responsibilities

  1. Upon receipt of your order I will contact you for a discussion of your smallsite requirements.
  2. Registration of UK domain name
    Once I have the required information from you (see Your Responsibilities), domain registration will take around 48 hours to complete. If your requested domain is unavailable, I will contact you as soon as I know with a few alternatives that are available.
  3. Timescale of production
    Production is likely to take up to 5 working days. I reserve the right to increase the length of the production time of your smallsite for factors beyond my control including but not limited to any or all of the following circumstances:
    • Data not supplied to me in the required format.
    • Web server downtime.
    • Network service interruption.
  4. Information architecture and interface design
    I will translate the documents you have supplied to me into a live web site. Any or all of the following may occur:
    • Modification of the standard navigation
    • Creation of custom graphical elements
    • Cropping of supplied images
    • Editing and/or reformulation of supplied text
  5. Management of hosted files
    After production of your smallsite I will manage the source documents. You will have no direct access.

Copyright and intellectual property rights

  1. All code produced by me will be the copyright of Andy Leppard
  2. All supplied data (ie. text and images) will remain the copyright of the customer
